kiss enclosed

This year, Rob got the card below-all the cute Thumb Bunnies and Iguana love you forever cards I’ve used up.  Plus, we can’t get enough of anything Boston Terrier. :) The inside says, “kiss enclosed!”

Kiss Enclosed!

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers :) from Rob and we have really romantic plans tonight, you might want to sit down, we are grocery shopping and working on our monthly budget.  I know, I know…we sure know how to be romantic.

Meiko as Nina

Anyone who has seen Black Swan and loves Boston Terriers will love this.

A wonderful Etsy Seller (African Grey) made a greeting card with Meiko and me in mind.  As I type this up, the greeting card is in my etsy cart to be purchased along with some other really adorable cards.  :)

Meiko, often plays both roles of the White Swan and the Black Swan, so this card is all too fitting.

skiing sister

My sister is pretty awesome…

I wish I was able to play all day, too! When asked why she doesn’t visit me, Mac has been known to say “why would I want to visit you when I live in Paradise?”  After watching that video, I don’t blame her.

Over Thanksgiving, while visiting our family, I made Mac and Raquel take a Hot Yoga class.  Afterwards, Mac said, “skiing is my yoga.” Clearly that statement is also true!

Rob’s Spring Break can’t come soon enough, then maybe I’ll post a video of me skiing half as great/technical as Mac.

Merry Meiko Christmas

Meiko has made her way into our heart and also onto our Christmas Tree.

Meiko Ornament

Well, that’s not really Meiko but it looks a lot like her in a Male version. We only have my ornaments from my childhood on our tree, we’ll have to get Rob’s over Christmas from his Mom so our tree isn’t dominated with ballet slipper ornaments and 1 Meiko ornament!

cuteness

Our old (and favorite) downstairs neighbor who recently moved out to Seattle posted this and I couldn’t help but share.  If it isn’t obvious by now that I love dogs, and especially little (sort of) Meiko look-a-likes.  I’m pretty sure if we had these door stops, Meiko would do the same thing.  Watch out for those door stops!

Also, take a look at this (what I think is) adorable ornament from Target for Meiko…it’s her friend, Rico!.

wedding photos!

For as excited as I am to have our wedding photos back, I should really put a post up about the great images.  I’m still planning on doing real posts about some key aspects about the wedding but for now…this should do!

For the sneak peak, of about 40 key images from the wedding that we got to see from our wonderful photographer Genevieve McKeiver before we received all the images… click HERE!

Up next is the link to our full online gallery, of nearly 800 photos, to view all of those… click HERE!

We absolutely love all the photos and I’m constantly looking at them :) remembering such a fun and love filled day!

And, since a post isn’t official without a photo…

Sitting Pretty.

On Sunday within just a few hours, I found Meiko sitting in all of these spots…

Showering Meiko

It doesn’t matter what time of the day it is, or how cozy the bed is, if the shower is turned on Meiko bolts to her spot in the bathroom.  Apparently she doesn’t want to miss out at all as to where we are.  I finally put a little bed there for her so she had a little comfort.

Spying Meiko

Meiko likes to sit on top of  her “house” to over look the people walking down the street. She knows everything that goes on down there and will let us know when an untrustworthy dog is walking by. She kindly turned around for me to snap this photo. I am also crazy for putting a bed on top of her house, I know.

Suspecting Meiko

When Meiko sees us putting on shoes or looking like we will be leaving she runs into her house and quickly circles into a ball and waits for us to close the door. I didn’t leave, I was just putting on some new boots (yay!) to show Rob but she made herself comfortable anyways.

Sleepy Meiko

By the end of the night Meiko was ready for bed. She made her way between and under six pillows.

It’s pretty clear by now that I love this dog. :)

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad!!

My Dad loves to entertain so it wasn’t a huge shocker that my parents would host our wedding reception at their house.  I can’t wait for Thanksgiving  so I can get a hug from the man who turns another year older, today. :)

In honor of his special day here are some of my favorite photos of my Dad from my wedding day.  Isn’t he so spiffy!

My Dad and his friend actually made this wall with drywall (the photo is cropped) for our guests to take photos with.

Hope your birthday is a wonderful one! Love you!

Spooktacular Weekend!

Rob and I had such a fantastic weekend celebrating Halloween this year!  We have never really gotten “into” the holiday but this year we dressed up with our friends as “The Breakfast Club”–we strolled down State Street in Madison for the annual Freak Fest.  I’m very proud of my craftsmanship as I made both of our costumes without a pattern.

Rob dressed up as Tony the Tiger from Frosted Flakes, I was the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee.

Tony and Bee

Our friends went as Cap’n Cruch and Toucan Sam from Froot Loops…Meiko stood in for me as the bee while I took the photo.  Aren’t these costumes AMAZING?

cap'n -- tony-- bee--sam

The next morning Rob and I ran with a few other friends in the Madison Mud Run. A 5 mile run that seemed to have us run constantly uphill, over hay barrels, through tunnels of foam, forge a river that was chest deep, and lastly crawl through a pit of mud….all in temperatures under 32 degrees. The group we ran  with also dressed as breakfast cereals, I stuck with the bee…I made Rob a cape to be Count Chocula, there was a frosted mini wheat, snap from rice crispies and toucan sam.  We are looking forward to the May mud run when it should be warmer…

And I’ll leave you with Meiko in her bee costume, for the third year…she’s loving it just as much as the previous years.  We’ll have to get creative for  next years costume.

a busy oct.

For October being as long as it is, it sure has gone by quickly!

We have accomplished so much and have much more to look forward to before it leaves us. So, a quick recap is order..

meiko is too cute

The first weekend, I helped out at the dance studio where I teach ballet for a “fall festival” complete with making your own carmel apples. From there I volunteered for the local Humane Society at their “Dogtoberfest” at a local brewery beer garden. Meiko learned to shake.

The second weekend, Rob and I finally was able to attend a wedding together this year.  We’ve had, including ours, eight weddings this year.  The real treat was that the wedding was in Madison for a few of our Chemistry friends. It was great to walk home from the reception! Congratulations Adam and Emily!!

The third weekend, I went to a dance convention with the dance studio

This past weekend I went to Chicago for the day on Saturday and walked around, shopping and spending time with my friends Frances and Ada.  On Sunday Rob and I went in search of the perfect Halloween costumes. Together, with our buddies who are married we are dressing up as cereal box characters so I spent a great portion (all day) making our costumes! I’m not going to show a photo of our costumes, just a photo of my helper while I was sewing…

Next weekend we are celebrating Halloween with lots of smiles from friends. We are volunteering for the Humane Socitey again and then dressing up with the rest of the town and hopefully winning a costume contest! On Sunday we are running in a 5 mile “mud run” with obstacles, including…mud.

Other than volunteering and smiling, I’ve been working out lots and watching too much HGTV. I have house fever–get me out of this apartment.

Meiko Shakes!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working with Meiko to teach her how to be a “real dog” in the terms of my sister and shake.

On Friday night and many treats later, Meiko got it!

After looking at this video and hearing feedback from friends, I’m the one who is a little excited…

Zoo Run Run

Yesterday Rob and I ran in our first 5k.  It was put on by the Zoo in town that is free to the public so this is a great fundraiser for the zoo.

Rob was a speed demon and came in at a pace of 6.48 minute mile, while I rounded out the middle of the pack with just over 9 minute mile.  For not training at all, I’m proud of us…and, Robs long legs.  After the run we walked around and hung out with our black and white friends.

Pengy Friends

Pengy Friends

And this is one of the many reasons why I love Rob…

my emperor penguin

With this run a success and my continuation obsession of all things  fitness, I will be signing up to run a 1/2 marathon with my friend Kristen next September in Chicago–I’m pretty sure I’ll train for that one!

smarty pants

Today I had about 30 minutes in between meetings and had to drive right by where Rob does his research and school work so I stopped to say “hi!” I’ve only been up to his lab a few times so this was a treat to see him do real lab work over computer work.

I have no clue what he’s doing in these two photos…something to do with chemistry.  To give Rob credit, he did explain what he was doing, I just didn’t understand a word he said.

hard at work

I love this Smarty in his stylish pants–he’s going to save the world someday.

join the party.

Fortunately I’m able to workout at the University  for a really low cost compared to local gyms, thanks to Rob being a PhD. candidate at the University…we’re talking $13 a month cheap, gotta love spouse perks! There’s a program at the Rec center called “Group X” that offers fitness classes, like Zumba, boxing, group strength, spinning, and yoga to name a few.

I’m a regular that the Group Strength classes and was hesitant to try Zumba.   My first Zumba experience was  a mistake.  I thought I was going to group strength and incidentally now, I’m addicted. If you haven’t heard about Zumba it’s a Latin-based workout that integrates dance with exercise. Their slogan is “ditch the workout and join the party” to that I say, okay!

I googled how many calories are burned and it’s a whopping 400-600–though the infomercial claims 1000 calories per hour.  It’s such a great ab workout without having to get on the floor and do crunches. Which, I don’t know about you but I’d rather dance than do crunches!

This photo was right after today’s Zumba classs. Throughout the class my shirt turned a darker shade of blue (almost dark enough to match my shoes!) and Meiko is always happy when I get home have her salt fix.

zumba and meiko

yummy.

Here is one of my latest infatuations.

Put all the items together and insert into panini press and you can have one too! It’s turns into a delicious warm perfect for the fall sandwich.

yummy in my tummy

Here’s what you need:

  • pesto
  • tomato
  • chicken (if you’d like)
  • mozzarella
  • yummy bread (technical, I know)
  • panini press 3-5 minutes

It’s a long story of how I became infatuated with this sandwich so I’ll spare the details. Basically, I had one and couldn’t stop thinking about it so I begged Rob to get us a Panini Press. One point for Rob.  :)

This is just way too cute and you should watch it.

My Little Itty Bitty Buddy.

One of my best friends had a beautiful baby girl on July 7th…my dad celebrated with a seagrams 7 and 7up.   Kennedy, (my little itty bitty buddy) decided to stay cozy for a few extra days even though she had an outfit to wear for the 4th of July and was due at the end of June.

While most babies out there are cute…Kennedy is the most adorable baby EVER! (I might be biased though)

kennedy in her favorite outfit

I had never been in the baby section at Target before Kennedy was born.  Now, I frequent that section during ever visit looking for Kennedy’s next outfit. Other than my new shopping habits… I now squeal when I’m sent a Kennedy photo, video clip, or get to have “facetime “with her her on my iphone.  Thank you technology for keeping me up to date with my little buddy and her life!

Mac on the ‘Bee

Last night, I uploaded a few of the photos to the gallery of a blog I read a lot during our wedding planning, WeddingBee.

So far we’ve only seen the photos that our wonderful wedding photographer, Genevieve McKeiver has posted on her blog. I am so eager to see our photos from 2 months ago that I look through the 40 photos photos regularly.

Several brides upload their photos everyday in hopes to be chosen as a post of “gallery of the day.”  We’ll guess what?! One of the photos I uploaded was chosen! The photo the ‘bees chose is of my sister during her lovely toast.

I’m really excited to have (Mac) featured!

Mac in Madison

Now that the wedding has passed (there will be many, MANY posts and recaps once I get the photos) Rob and I have a little more free time to entertain and do things we love…like, play golf with MacKenzie this past weekend in Madison!

Mac-Me-Robbie

Mac-Me-Robbie

Mac came up once we got back from our ‘mini’moon since she’s never been to Madison.  We made sure to take her to The Great Dane for dinner and beer.
