Robbie turns a quarter of a century today. Meiko made sure to give him 25 kisses this morning, and I gave him the following artwork by Tim Kirkpatrick!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE!!

Eleven:11

Eleven:11

Make a wish, It’s 11:11.

Or, November 11th, take your pick.

The photo is of a print I made while studying at Dominican University of California 2 whole years ago! The construction of the print was really fun. I took backward facing photocopies of the “eleven” letters and the “11” number. Then I used a special substance to transfer the teal ink from the copies to my print. I made a whole Globe theme series using the same process. I’ve been carrying those around in my portfolio waiting to frame them. As far as the Eleven:11, it was a gift to Rob, I think it’s under his bed?

Chihuly = Happiness.

I was “getting inspiration?” while at work today and came across this Brooch, online.

It made me think of how Dale Chihuly‘s work makes me smile. During his design process he splatters paint around, on paper, before he gets started on the glass blowing.

Aren't they lovely?

Each one of those drawings will turn into something beautiful, like the photo below. Take a look around Chihulys Website. It’s impossible to be unhappy while looking at his creations.

#1 fan.

how'd you like that yard!

how'd you like that yard?

I thought I’d showcase how talented my sister is.  It’s probably a very overstated phrase, but I’m her biggest fan.  If you need a landscape design, let me know, I’ll introduce you to her.

Polka Dots

Three weekends ago Ada and I went to the Art Fair on the Square.  As you probably could’ve guessed, it’s an art fair located on the Capital square.  Hundreds of artists from around the country come to hopefully sell their sculptures, paintings, photographs, jewelry, and prints to the residents of Madison and surrounding communities.  Someday I’ll be fiscally fit to be able to collect art, as for now, I like to look and pick up prints of the originals.

I’m particularly happy in this tiny postcard piece I picked up.  I knew I belonged in the booth, wearing the only article of clothing I’ve made, my summer polka dot dress.  The artist, Susan Hodgin, http://susanhodgin.com/  and her friend sat in the back and couldn’t stop complimenting my dress.  Madisonites walking by thought I was good publicity.  I just thought I was cool, for lack of a better word.
